This week we have........

I could cry.
The computer has been acting up and I just lost my nice post about the farm and a little blurb about the vegetable this week.

I don't have time to write it all again so this will be brief.

CSA members you will be receiving salad mix, Swiss chard, squash, zucchini, a stir fry mix of Asian greens, purple top turnips, spring onions and Belgian endive for the full shares.

There will be more information to come! (when I'm finished drying my eyes)

So sorry about the computer malfunction. I've had that happen more times than I'd like to remember, so suffice it to say..."I feel your pain."

Just have to tell you how excited I've been now that the CSA have started back up again!!!

Strawberries were TO DIE FOR!!!
Made a divine broccoli rabe/spicy sausage (from the Ault's)/cheesy pasta dish this past week - will definitely use that recipe again.

The daily monster salads I've been bringing to work each day are the envy of everyone!:) And John's eyes just light up with delight whenever he sees the turnips!!! So thanks!

Then this evening, after seeing several references online, and having a new batch in the bag from this morning's pickup :-), I decided to try making baked kale chips. OMG!!! They are terrific! (Here's hoping for a hearty kale crop this year!!! :-)

Recipe:
bunch of kale, thick stems removed (I trimmed, then tore the leaves into about 2 inch pieces)
olive oil (Tablespoon or so)
sea salt
splash of apple cider vinegar
garlic salt
cayenne

Preheat oven to about 350 degrees. On a parchment paper lined cookie sheet, spread kale leaves out in single layer. Bake for about 6 minutes or until crispy.

When I told my husband about trying this, he rolled his eyes and said it sounded crazy. But after the first nibble, he was hooked.... and is now looking forward to my next experiments with other seasoning options! :)

I just have to tell you again how VERY MUCH we appreciate all the work you and Adam do...and how much we've loved being a member of the CSA these past 3 years!!!

(And the beehive tales sound very exciting!!! Remind me to tell you about John's response re: making a new queen bee. He had me rolling on the floor!)

Thank you!!

I've been telling folks about the wonders of kale chips, but didn't have a recipe (we made up one that we can never replicate). I'll be sure to share this on the next post.

We are so happy to know you and thrilled you've been a fertile Crescent Farm CSA lifer! Thanks again for all of your kind words.
